In partnership with the Dubai Chamber Centre Sustainability Network and FARNEK, the French Business Council organized a seminar focusing on better Food Waste Management in UAE and the current operations reduction practices from industries directly involved in the consumption of food.
The event brought all stakeholders on one table where speakers from government (Dubai Municipality), industry (hotels, restaurants and food manufacturing companies) as well as the civil society (Food Banking Regional Network) share their expertise and possible means of cooperation to reduce food wastage in the UAE.
The Food Banking Regional Network presented a unique model for reducing global food waste and ending hunger by 2020, actions include innovative practices that encourage conservative means of food consumption and efficient handling of food surplus and leftovers as reducing buffet serving plate size, introducing vertical agriculture, production of animal feed from food leftovers as well as other practices in food management along the supply chain stages were incorporated to minimize food waste.
